What is Bus 52?
Bus 52 is a year-long journey across the United States that will see four young people travel to all 48 continental states in a converted school bus. We will be looking for people who are approaching community challenges in innovative ways and will tell their story through video interviews, articles, and photo albums.
Young people today are flooded with media wherever they go. Whether from old media like TV and Radio, or new like social networks or smartphone apps, young people get their information from a tremendous number of places, with the most important or interesting things often lost in the process. We want to bring stories of inspiration to the generation that could most profit from it: ours. By using a mixture of social and traditional media, we’re going to bring these stories to you. Whether you’re on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or none at all, you’ll be able to see what we see, read what we write, and tell us how we’re doing throughout the whole process.
What made you want to do this?
A mixture of curiosity and insanity. We’re all young and unsure of what we want to do when we grow up. Just out of college, we were looking for a way to travel throughout the US and meeting the people that make the nation unique. Bus 52 is the result of that. We’ve built up an organization and will have a research team helping us stay on track.
How Can I Get Involved?
Great question. By highlighting great people in the community, we’re building one of our own. Be sure to [follow] us any way you can. Tweet us or send us a message. If you have a suggestion for a story, please let us know. If you like what you see and want to make sure we’ve got what we need to make the project a success, consider making a tax-deductible donation to keep us going!
